Soulful | Mindful | Inspired

In 2015, after eight years working for large publicly traded home builders in Southern California, 13 years building homes with my “was-band” (a term I coined as I don’t like the sound of “ex”) in Southern California and Hawaii, and the last decade-plus raising two beautiful, amazing humans: it seemed like a good time to build the company I always dreamed of.

I wanted to bring something soulful to an industry and a market that traditionally values only the return on investment and marks the value of a home by price per square foot alone.  I wanted a HOME building company. One that expressed my love for family and friends, my whimsical side, the creative who loves to pair the vintage with modern and reinterpret old favorites and strive to WOW!!! your flip flops or Manolo’s off just the same.  With my “build forward” view of home design, I create homes that aren’t the “popular” or “trendy” style of the moment but homes with unique thoughtful qualities that will stand the test of time and provide a safe haven (both literally and financially) for those excited by the chance to own something special, something different and mood altering; a treat for the senses. So, I started again … this time with Alpha Property Development and its sister design firm, H.U.R. Companies.

I believe every home site requires its own something special.  There is no ”formula” for inspired design.  It occurs organically.  It evolves from the ground up if you look and listen.  That’s not to say that there isn’t a map to the creation of each home and a strategy for the actual construction.  Its the design process, experience and intuition to craft and capture the subtleties of a location’s spirit and attributes that make this company a Boutique HOME Design and Building Company.  And we apply this same philosophy to both our imaginary owners (speculative homes for sale) as well as our real clients (those who we are privileged to collaborate with and build for).

As for me, I love my children, my family, my friends, dancing, laughter, warm Hawaii waters, Paris, Venice, Iceland, the silence of desolate ski runs, Marvel movie series, oh … and I hoard design magazines according to my team (secretly, they are like a warm soft blanket and hot cocoa when I hit the occasional design road blocks).

And … I believe that the right solutions will bring smiles and laughter and comfort.

Here’s to you and hoping we meet sometime soon.

Journey

2011 - Present

Home Builder

Present Post marriage, it was time to build the company I always dreamed of. Creating a company culture of "family first" allowed me to craft a creative, flexible, inspiring and collaborative experience for my clients. We design and build HOMES not widgets for families of all shapes and sizes. Our goal isn't to create our dream home. It is to create yours. So it has been my honor and privilege to do so for many many families at all stages of life. And I hope to do the same for yours!

1998 - 2011

Alpha Property Development

After seven years working for large publicly traded home builders in Southern California in sales & marketing roles, I met, married and built a design and development company with my Wasband. Together, we expanded the company from a primarily Orange County contractor to a multi state homebuilding and development company with a presence in Hawaii, Washington State and Southern California. These years allowed me a great opportunity to work with and learn from many fantastic architects, engineers and professionals. But my one-to-one experiences working directly with our clients was really a true education on meeting the specific needs and desires of a very diverse group of homeowners over these many years. Seeing THEIR dreams come into focus through the building and design process gave me joy and inspired my next endeavor, H.U.R. Companies

1991-1998

Property Development

After college I spent seven years learning and expanding my understanding of the home building industry, construction and sales and marketing as I had the great fortune to work for several national and regional home builders. These years helped me to understand so much about what makes a community and makes a house into a home.
